Farming is Hard Work!

Even though we live in a rural part of the county, I'm not sure how much our students know about the hard work involved in farming.  We'll use farming books to discuss responsibility and work. 

Farmer Duck does all the work for the lazy old farmer, but is this realistic?  I'll ask students to compare the nonfiction and fiction books to determine how they are similar and different.  Since both have a sequence of events, I'll also ask students to retell the story or information they learned about the work of farming.

I hope we will have time to color some farm animal stick puppets so that we can retell the Farmer Duck or at least sing the song one more time.
